Producer, engineer, vocalist

Walker's music sits in electronic and hip-hop. He has worked across the whole chain: producing the beats, engineering the audio, and singing on records.

Each of those is its own craft. A producer builds the track: the drums, the bass, the sounds and the arrangement. An audio engineer records it and gets it to sound right: the levels, the EQ, the space each sound sits in. A singer has to hear where the voice fits on top of all that. Doing all three means hearing a song from the inside out.

Code and music

Making beats and writing software have more in common than it looks. Both are built in layers, both get debugged by ear or by eye one small change at a time, and both reward patience. Walker spent time on both sides: building apps at the Georgia Tech coding boot camp and building tracks of his own.
